Building an offline-first POS for Bangladesh

Why offline mode isn't a nice-to-have here, it's a requirement, and how we built it.

Why offline mode isn't a nice-to-have here, it's a requirement, and how we built it.

In Bangladesh, internet drops and load-shedding are part of daily life. A POS that stops working when the connection drops is useless to a retailer. So we built Retailer POS offline-first: every sale, every product edit, every customer entry is saved locally first, then synced to the server the moment a connection returns. The sync is conflict-aware, so if two devices edit the same product, the last-write-wins rule applies with a clear audit log. This means a retailer can keep billing through a 4-hour power cut and lose zero data. It's the feature our customers thank us for most.
